FAQs
How does it work without a wallet?
How does it work without a wallet?
With Crossmint, people can purchase onchain assets with any payment method, from any device, in ~30 seconds, even if they don’t have a wallet or cryptocurrency.
You will receive the full amount instantly via the smart contract, in the native currency of the contract. For enterprises, Crossmint also offers fiat settlements, eliminating the need for them to hold cryptocurrency.
Buyers will receive their assets directly on their wallet, if they have one. If not, Crossmint will create one on-the-fly, which can be embedded in your site or accessed from crossmint.com. You can read more about the wallets here.
What's the difference between NFT/token checkouts, versus just an onramp?
What's the difference between NFT/token checkouts, versus just an onramp?
For fiat payments, users can:
NFT checkouts: purchase NFTs directly with fiat, with no onramp or KYC.
Token checkouts: purchase tokens that are not currencies or securities, directly with fiat, with no onramp or KYC.
Why is this better for NFT and token sales:
- Users can purchase their NFTs within seconds, in one streamlined flow, instead of needing to go through multiple steps.
- Buyers can spend the exact amount required, without having to add buffers to account for variations in price and gas fees.
- With onramping first, users have stringent requirements and much lower transaction approval rates. Users spend many minutes trying to make their first purchase, and over 40% of them will get their transactions declined by the bank.
How does Crossmint differ from other onchain checkouts?
How does Crossmint differ from other onchain checkouts?
Crossmint is the first and leading onchain checkout in the market, powering most major marketplaces, launchpads, and over 10,000+ drops to date.
The main differences are:
- Buyers don’t need a wallet. Crossmint can create them on-the-fly (guest checkout), in the backend, improving conversion.
- Crossmint is the merchant of record for transactions and sells NFTs/tokens directly in fiat. This results in real approval rates of ~95% (vs industry average of ~55%) and eliminates the need for cumbersome extra steps during the purchase flow.
- The same checkout includes cross-chain payments, allowing users to purchase NFTs/tokens on one chain paying a different cryptocurrency.
- The integration takes as little as 5 minutes, and we have verified is the fastest for your developers to integrate.
- Premium features like currency and language localization, NFT collection registration via API, automated token legal reviews, accesslists, and more.
- After millions of transactions, Crossmint’s infrastructure has been battle-tested and hardened against edge cases and sophisticated fraud attacks, so you can deliver the most reliable experience to your users, and minimize customer support.
Several crypto on-ramps built NFT checkouts wrapping their core product. Crossmint’s are distinctly separate. Despite what marketing materials may say, their onramp-first products generally offer much lower transaction approval rates. There are multiple reasons for that, including:
- Many of these providers are not the merchant of record for transactions. Instead, they are facilitating the purchase of cryptocurrency for the purchase of the NFT, even if hidden from the user’s frontend.
- Not having NFT-specific anti-fraud models or models that are sufficiently trained. Ours have been in the market for 3+ years.
The recommendation is for you to test the products yourself and ask randomly selected users for their experience using these services.
Does Crossmint support primaries and secondaries (marketplaces)?

What are the KYC requirements?
What are the KYC requirements?
1 For some use cases, like onramp, KYC is required for regulatory reasons. For most assets, like NFTs and memecoins, Crossmint’s proprietary setup allows us to leave KYC to the developer’s discretion.
How do checkout fees work for NFTs?
How do checkout fees work for NFTs?
Managed NFT Collections
Managed Collections have two options for fees:
1. Buyer pays fees - The buyer (your customer) pays the price of the asset you set in console, plus applicable fees. The Seller (you, the creator) receives the price set in console (aka the payout).
2. Seller pays fees - The buyer pays the exact price of the asset set in console. You receive the set asset price, minus applicable fees.
To access this setting in the Crossmint Console, go to your managed collection, click on “Payments” and then “Settings”. Here you will find the “Who pays the fees?” switch, which allows you to set the payer of fees for your collection. You can update and save this setting at any time.
- The total fees per transaction are the same in either option.
- Managed collections are Buyer pays by default.
Imported NFT Collections
Imported collections are only compatible with the “Buyer pays fees” option.
